Genre blog task

Fact sheet 3
1) Visual iconographies are important as they help the audience to know the genre. The fact that there is a desk with a screen behind it demonstrates that it is a news broadcast as the mise-en-scene creates formality.
2)Genre is not only indicated through visual and aural iconographies. They help to tell a story.
3)In action films, the main character is usually committing crimes or trying to stop their rival in order to save others. But in disastrous films, the main character is generally involved within a group and makes decisions that could save others.

5)Genre is useful to audiences as they help them to decide whether the film will interest them or not. Also, audiences are able to compare a text using genre and their similar characteristics. You would only watch something if you enjoy that particular genre in which features in a film/ programme. The final way in which genre is useful for rejecting a text; not enjoying something based on the genre causes them to not watch something of that nature again.
6)-ATTRACTING AN AUDIENCE~ Most genres attract loyal audiences. People try new sit-coms as they help producers to know what will help them succeed more instead of fail.
-PRODUCTION~ Genres act as a template to producers. They create 'rules' for producers if they want to produce something new. It makes it much easier for writers/ producers as they don't have to think of a new idea from the beginning. They can base their work on a genre and build around it.
-MARKETING TEXT~ For example: film trailers outline the main genres within the film. It sets certain expectations for the audience.

CASE STUDY: everyday sexism

1)Laura Bates created the 'Everyday Sexism' project in order to speak out about sexual harassment and to destroy the normalisation of it. 2)This project links to post-feminism as it trys to encourage gender equality. Although women's rights have become more significant, they aren't as strong as men's rights. Feminism is necessary in today's society as women are sexually exploited on a daily basis and society often normalises it. 3)Technology was essential to the success of this project as it made it easy to spread the word by sharing and the use of hashtags. 4)I believe that the Everyday Sexism project will be required for a while in the future as sexual exploitation has been normalised therefore, we may not be able to change other peoples views and opinions. MEDIA MAGAZINE: the fourth wave? 1)Networked feminism is when it is divided into 'waves'; they explain the different contexts behind them culturally. It started when feminism came about. Femin...
